Confession from a coach (yes, I mean myself)

Hello Reader,

I confess that there are times when I feel like a total imposter - inadequate and above my head.

I've even watched myself in workshop video replays and thought "she sounds like she knows exactly what she's talking about. I wish I could do that too."

Being in a funk is like circling the drain. You need a good pattern interrupt to kick you out of your own head and help you remember how amazing you really are.

The thing is, you can't think our way out of this. Our inner critic isn't using facts - it's using feelings. To close that gap, we need a different map. An objective, data-backed understanding of what we actually bring to the table.

Be yourself. There's enough of everyone else!

At the moment, I'm seeing lots of leaders struggle to keep their heads above water. Pushing through rather than working from their zone of genius - and it's exhausting and demoralising. It's not a good way to work, or a good way to live.

When you work from your innate strengths, everything feels easier. You get more done, feel better in yourself and perform at your best - not in spite of who you are, but because of it.

The thing is, most people don't know - or admit to - half their strengths. They're too busy focusing on their weaknesses. Or assuming their strengths aren't anything special, because they erroneously believe everyone else has them too.

These are strengths they could lean into straight away, that would make such a huge difference to their lives - personally and professionally.

That's why I love coaching on this topic.

Lead from your strengths. They are your best strategy.

In my blog, you can find my Understand Your Strengths workshop replay, as well as a link to the free VIA Character Strengths Survey created by the University of Pennsylvania (the architects behind the positive psychology movement). Both will help you articulate your unique strengths and apply them to your work, life and relationships immediately.

I find, however, that it's really helpful to have someone coach you through the process, because you can't always see your own strengths clearly. That's where I come in.

I'm running a free 60-minute Understand Your Strengths workshop on 20 May at 12pm GMT. It's small, intimate and we'll deep dive into what makes you uniquely you.

In 60 minutes we will:

  • Clearly articulate your unique character strengths
  • See where they are already showing up and where they are being underused
  • Apply them to your performance and energy immediately

With warmth,

Georgina

P.S. If stress and overthinking feel more front of mind right now, you may prefer my Calm on Demand workshop - a 60-minute interactive session to help you shift from stress and self-doubt to calm and clarity. Spaces still available here.
